YASMIN HUSSAIN (she/her)
Growing up as an athlete, I was no stranger to injuries. After tearing three ligaments in my knee, I endured a long rehabilitation process and struggled with a deep distrust in my body, even after physically healing. It wasn’t until I found the right health and wellness community that I began to rebuild trust in my body.
I began my journey as a student at a sports performance training studio run by a good friend, eventually stepping into the role of Program Director. In this position, I supported both adults and young athletes in understanding the vital connection between body and mind—something often overlooked in the sports world. I found myself asking, “Why don’t more high school and college athletes have access to this knowledge? Why didn’t I learn this growing up?” We now know the importance of listening to our bodies and learning how to advocate for them. I am passionate about helping others overcome barriers and find movement as a form of healing.
With over 11 years of experience as an educator, facilitator, and life coach, my career has taken me through a variety of roles—from nutrition education to sports performance coaching, youth work, and culinary instruction. Regardless of the setting, one constant has always drawn me in: the power of community. I’ve been fortunate to be part of communities that foster true growth, where we move beyond individualism and embrace collective healing. It’s through shared experiences—both the joys and the struggles—that we heal and evolve together.
In December 2024, I joined the work-study team at JPCY and quickly fell in love with the community. Outside of JPCY, I’m focused on personal projects that create food education events centered on the intersectionality of food, culture, and identity. When I’m not working, you can find me dancing salsa and bachata.
