SARAH DONNER (she/her)
A lifelong athlete, I began practicing yoga in 2013, initially drawn to the intense physicality of vinyasa flow classes. I felt humbled and invigorated by this new kind of “workout” I’d discovered that, curiously, also seemed to leave me feeling more grounded, present, and at home in myself. Before long, I began to think of the time on my mat less as a physical challenge, and more as an opportunity to observe my inner landscape amidst a busy, externally-driven lifestyle. Yoga provided an opportunity for me to bear witness to myself with curiosity and compassion, a practice that has helped me navigate difficulty, cultivate resilience, and move through life with more intention and grace.
I have found the study of anatomy and the science of movement to be a well of constant insight and inspiration in my practice, teaching, and life off the mat. Studying the literal mechanics of the body has been a way for me to observe patterns in my body and mind, and I tend to infuse these concepts into my teaching, inviting students to explore their own experience through this lens and choose movement that serves where they are on a given day.
I completed my 200-RYT in 2015 at Nosara Yoga Institute with Don & Amba Stapleton, and my 300-RYT in 2022 via Boston Yoga School with Ame Wren and Daniel Max. I love to learn, and am so grateful for these and many other gifted teachers of varying backgrounds and methodologies whose wisdom has informed my path.
What You Can Expect From My Classes
I aim to create welcoming and lighthearted space for people of all experience levels to connect to themselves through movement and breath. My classes blend traditional asana with functional and mobility-based movements in a dynamic, vinyasa-inspired sequence that balances physical vigor with more restorative postures. I strive to create a supportive environment for students to explore and personalize their experience, hopefully leaving class feeling more balanced and integrated.
