RIVER CHEVANNES (they/them)
i am a devoted yin & restorative yoga practitioner who also appreciates a powerful vinyasa flow. i am blessed and privileged to have started practicing yoga as an angsty 13 year old. at the time, i didn’t realize a powerful seed was being planted for a lifelong, deep and transformative journey with mindful movement.
in 2024, i completed my 200-hour teacher training at Down Under School of Yoga. in addition to teaching yoga, i am an artist, integrative therapist and meditation facilitator.
in my thirties, i have discovered the power of yin and restorative yoga as a pathway to healing my nervous system. i have fallen in love with yoga as a way of intentionally deepening connection with my body, honoring my body’s wisdom, and reclaiming body sovereignty.
"our bodies are a site of libration. we are divine and our rest is divine. there is synergy, interconnectedness, and deep communal healing within our rest movement. i believe rest, sleep, naps, daydreaming, and slowing down can help us all wake up to see the truth of ourselves. rest is a healing portal to our deepest selves. rest is care. rest is radical." - Tricia Hersey (Rest is Resistance)
