JELISA BELL ADAIR (she/her)
While I had dabbled in yoga as a college student, I first fell in love with the practice of yoga in 2017. Yoga came to me at a moment of extraordinary difficulty in my life, and I will always be appreciative of how it held me during that time. After moving to Jamaica Plain that same year, I decided to try practicing at JP Centre Yoga, and fell in love with the space and the community. Yoga helped me become connected to my body in a way I had never experienced, and I haven’t looked back since!
Over the next six years, I continued to grow in both my understanding of the breadth of yoga, as well as my connection to the practice, and in 2024 after having put it off for several years, I chose to enroll in the 200-hour Yoga Teacher Training at JPCY. Having completed this training, I am so excited to see what is in store for me as I continue my journey as a practitioner and begin my role as an instructor.
Beyond yoga, I am a licensed clinical social worker who has a full-time job at Boston University and a part-time private practice where I work with folks from communities I hold dear to my heart, including the polyamorous, BIPOC, and queer communities. You can find me enjoying the nature of JP (particularly the Southwest Corridor and Franklin Park), thrifting on Centre Street, or spending time with my loved ones (including my two beautiful cats, Minerva and Morgan).
