Yin Yoga: Late Summer Long Practice with Stacey Jackson-Flammia

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), there is a fifth season: late summer. This two-hour Yin Yoga practice offers wisdom from the fifth season, drawing from both yogic tradition and TCM.

We will explore a full-body Yin Yoga experience, centering poses associated with the Spleen and Stomach systems. During late summer, we focus on these systems due to their crucial role in regulating the Earth element. The Spleen is seen as essential for the nourishing Blood and chi, as well as housing thought. Together, the Spleen and Stomach systems govern bonding, nurturing, and grounding.

This workshop is suitable for both beginners and experienced Yin Yoga practitioners. We will dedicate extra time to familiar poses from our weekly classes – as well as the opportunity to explore some complicated poses rarely offered in a shorter practice – allowing for a deeper exploration of Yin Yoga through breath and posture. This approach will promote ease and stability, culminating in a rejuvenating, long Savasana to fully absorb the benefits.
