EMILY JERANT-HENDRICKSON (she/her)
I began regularly practicing yoga while getting my BFA in contemporary dance from The Boston Conservatory. After suffering a torn shoulder, I turned to vinyasa classes as a way to build my strength back and developed a love of a challenging physical practice that constantly reminds me how resilient the body can be.
I completed my 200hr in 2016 and taught heated vinyasa for years before completing my 300hr and Restorative Training at Down Under School of Yoga. My openness to learning from a wide variety of movement and yoga teachers, commitment to regular self practice, and experience recovering from injuries root my classes in curiosity, creativity, and clear anatomical instruction.
What You Can Expect From My Classes
My alignment focused classes are challenging and intelligently sequenced, and delivered with grounding instruction that prioritizes the needs of the individual. After spending most of my life in classrooms where the emphasis was on doing exactly as the teacher says and feeling pressured to push through injuries, yoga classes became a much needed space where I could finally exercise my own agency. As a teacher, I encourage my students to make choices in class that prioritize their safety and strengthen their curious and creative brain by treating each posture as a frame that you can build on or break down and rebuild.
