COURTNEY BELL (she/her)
I began practicing yoga after college in Chicago, Illinois. My journey began at Moksha Yoga - 4 days of asana and 1 day of sutra study. When I moved to Massachusetts, I continued my asana practice, but also rediscovered my love of the outdoors - backpacking, hiking, sculling, kayaking and SUP to name a few of my loves. As I was no longer attending sutra study group in Chicago, I decided to take the 200 hour teaching training with Nicole Burrill and Tim Kelleher to broaden my understanding of the yoga practice. I then started teaching at the rock climbing gym and discovered a love offering space for students to practice in a non-judgemental place.
I have continued my studies with Jacqui Bonwell for my 300 hour certification. As a social worker, I use a trauma informed lens to guide students through practice. I have studied with Street Yoga in San Diego, body and movement and trauma with Bes Van Der Kolk at Kripalu Yoga center, Trauma Brain Injury yoga certification, SPA yoga, Mind Body Awareness practice for veterans through the American Red Cross as well as Yin Yoga and Meditation training. All of this is combined with over 20 years of clinical social work skills as a way to open space for an inclusive practice.
